The Greater Manchester (GM) Cancer Academy is the independent digital hub for cancer education across Greater Manchester and supports delivery of the NHS People Plan and the Long Term Plan ambitions for cancer services.
The GM Cancer Academy provides a mechanism to standardise training, education and career frameworks for our current and future non-medical workforce across all settings to deliver the best cancer care for patients. In collaboration with MAHSC, The Christie School of Oncology and GatewayC the Academy works collegiately to deliver the GM education principles.
Immersive and engaging cancer education
The GM Cancer Academy offers immersive and engaging cancer education in a variety of forms to suit all types of learner including:
- Modules – CPD accredited online learning that can be accessed on any device, at anytime
- Events – held face to face for sharing best practice and networking
- Webinars – short, interactive seminars that can be watched live or on-demand
- Skills Labs – hands-on practical sessions to assess technique
Cancer Academies
The GM Cancer Academy aims to ensure that each cancer sub-speciality will have its own dedicated Cancer Academy, completely driven by the needs the cancer workforce in Greater Manchester.
Cancer Education Directory
As the hive for cancer education the GM Cancer Academy offers a ‘cancer education directory’ that enables seamless signposting to quality assured educational offerings.
e-Portfolio
The GM Cancer Academy will be launching an e-Portfolio to encourage the non-medical workforce to be store educational achievements, journal entries and appraisals.
