Step Into Care

‘Step into Care’ is a fully funded, training and work placement programme designed to support GM residents who are interested in working in a care and support role. Since the programme began in May 2020, it has supported over 100 people to start a rewarding career in care. Watch the video below to find out more about Step into Care.

Training

The Step into Care training is 5 weeks long, and it will provide a great introduction to working in care.

Skills and Qualifications

You will cover the knowledge elements of the Care Certificate and have an opportunity to complete Level 1 awards in Mental Health and Stress Awareness, as well as gain some employability skills and support.

Career Opportunities

Upon completing the five-week training programme successfully you will start a voluntary placement that is a working interview for a paid role in care. Approximately 85% of people who complete a voluntary placement start work for the same employer.

Personal Achievement

Adult social care is an extremely rewarding job. Through Step into Care, you can make a tangible positive impact on people’s lives.

Adult social care

Adult social care covers a wide range of activities to help people who are older or living with disability live independently and stay well and safe.

It can include ‘personal care’, such as support for washing, dressing and getting out of bed in the morning, as well as wider support to help people stay active and engaged in their communities.

Elderly care

Changing people’s lives

It’s demanding work, but also very rewarding. You’ll be helping people to maintain their dignity and improving their quality of life every day. The most important thing is not your age, nor your background, but your values, behaviours and attitudes. Those things are what make a successful adult social care worker.
